Overview
Iran is listed in the Visa Atlas directory with stable ISO codes IR/IRN, capital Tehran. This directory covers 196 countries: the 193 United Nations member states plus the Holy See, the State of Palestine and Kosovo. That is a chosen editorial scope, not a universally accepted count — recognition and membership differ between organisations and governments, and listing a place here implies no political position.

Government-owned domain; provenance not cross-confirmed. Temporarily unavailable when last checked (September 7, 2026).
A working link is not proof of official status, and a reachable page is not expert review. Confirm every rule on the government site itself before you travel.
Which body handles visas here
Iran's foreign ministry runs both the visa information pages and the electronic visa service. Neither the ministry site nor its eVisa service opened from here — the eVisa service answers with a browser security check — so both are recorded as unavailable rather than replaced.
